Christian Music So much Christian music these days is very mainstream. For those who like mainstream music, that's all well and good. But if you don't like that kind of music it's Tough Luck. And, to make it worse, the Mainstream music is some of the better offerings out there. Some of the stuff we sing at church is the same as I used to sing aged five. Now I'm twenty-five. My musical tastes are very different now. But a lot of Christian music's not very different at all. This causes problems. I like listening to music. I like singing, too. Mostly I like music which actually brings something out in me. Music which feels. Too much Christian music just doesn't convey that sense of feeling. The way the music lifts, darkens, or stirs. Combine that with powerful lyrics and you've got something very moving and powerful. So why do so many Christian songs fall so flat? The really sad thing about the whole situation? For people with my kind of taste in music, there are far better songs out there spreading the lies that God is dead, than there are proclaiming the truth that He is still alive. Not good.
